St. George Marathon
This year is the 40th anniversary of the St. George Marathon on Saturday, October 7th, 2017. This marathon brings in runners from all over the nation and celebrates the title of the 13th largest marathon in the United States. The marathon begins in Pine Valley Mountains and ends in the Vernon Worthen Park in the city of St. George. While temperatures are cooler in the morning, by the end of the day, temperatures can range from 65-85 degrees. Runners have 6 hours to finish the race, and many use this as a qualifier for Boston Marathon. While the race accommodates 7,400 runners, applicants are chosen by a lottery system.
